The artwork “Sueños de Morfeo” presents a dreamlike scene enclosed within a circular format, as if we were looking through a window into another world. Against a deep blue background—reminiscent of the night sky or the inner universe of dreams—poppy flowers emerge, subtly transforming into human figures. These figures appear to be asleep, curled up or gently floating, fused with the red petals of the flowers, suggesting a metamorphosis between the body and nature. The poppy, traditionally associated with sleep and forgetfulness, becomes here a literal symbol of the dream world.
At the upper center of the scene, a butterfly hovers, suspended like an ethereal guardian of sleep or a soul in transit. The presence of this insect adds a layer of lightness and spirituality, evoking transformation, freedom, or even the soul traveling through dreams.
The composition, ethereal and poetic, invites us to contemplate the dissolution of boundaries between reality and imagination, between body and landscape, and to immerse ourselves in the mystery of the unconscious, guided by Morpheus, the god of dreams.
