An air of industrial mystery pervades this composition. At the center, a totemic figure—somewhere between an automaton and a building—stands hieratic on a pedestal, crowned by a black cube that unmistakably evokes a gaming die. The surrounding space is oppressive and theatrical, defined by tall gray walls that enclose the scene.
The most unsettling aspect of the work is its coded language: a series of dark rectangles with crosses and dots orbit the central figure, suggesting a system of signals or secret communication. Here, the artist eschews bright color in favor of a palette of earth tones, ochres, and grays, working the material densely to give weight and physical presence to each volume.
